About Me

Alison Day
I'm an MBACP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults and young people aged 16+ in Sevenoaks and online. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected from themselves. Together we create a space to understand what's happening beneath the surface and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others.
My Approach
My work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and emotional understanding. I offer a reflective space where thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement. By paying attention to recurring patterns and experiences, therapy can help you develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
My background includes work in community services, perinatal support and long-term psychodynamic therapy. Before training as a therapist, I worked in roles that centred on emotional understanding, communication and supporting people through complex experiences, foundations that continue to shape my therapeutic work.
Areas I specialise in
Parenthood and identity changes
Loss, grief and life transitions
Relationship difficulties and family dynamics
Anxiety, low mood & emotional overwhelm
While these are common themes, you don't need to fit into a particular category to benefit from therapy.
Training and background
I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling from Birkbeck, University of London, and a BA (Hons) in Sociology from University of Sheffield. Alongside private practice, my experience includes community mental health settings, perinatal support, and longer-term psychodynamic therapy. I am a registered member of the BACP and work within its Ethical Framework.
